Which ice cream course is right for me?

The two-day ice cream course is the right starting point for making your own dairy and fruit ice cream. The soft serve course covers machines, production and sales concepts. The start-up course focuses on location, equipment, investment and preparing to open your own ice cream business.

Can I attend without previous experience?

The ice cream course is also designed for beginners. You learn the fundamentals through theory and practice. If you already have experience or want to focus on a particular topic, contact us before booking so we can help you choose the right training.

Will I make ice cream myself?

Yes. In the ice cream course, you put what you learn into practice in the training laboratory. You develop dairy and fruit recipes and produce different types of ice cream. Ingredients, production methods, equipment and presentation are also part of the programme.

How long do the courses last?

The ice cream course lasts two days and the start-up course lasts one day. The soft serve course is a four-hour session on one day. See the course selection for dates and times, and check your booking confirmation.

How much does a course cost and what is included?

Prices are shown for each course date. Course materials, drinks, catering and clothing for the course are provided on site. Available add-ons and the final total price are shown before you complete your booking.

How do I book and pay for my place?

Under “Courses & dates”, choose a course and then a date. Select “Book now” to continue to the booking process and its available payment methods. Your place is secured once the course fee has been received. The açaí and soft serve course currently offers a non-binding date enquiry; online payment is not yet available for that course.

Where are the courses held?

Our courses take place in Luckenwalde near Berlin, Germany. You can find our location and contact details on the contact page. Please use the venue information for your booked course date when planning your journey.

How many people attend each course?

Courses have a maximum of ten participants, allowing time for questions and individual guidance. The booking page shows whether places are available for your preferred date.

What do I need to bring?

Course materials and clothing for the training are provided on site. Bring your questions and ideas for your ice cream business. Please check your booking confirmation for any additional instructions for your course.

Do the courses cover vegan and lactose-free ice cream?

Yes. The ice cream course covers vegan and lactose-free options as well as dairy and fruit recipes. If you want to work with particular ingredients or develop a specific product range, discuss this with us before booking.

Will I learn about hygiene and costing?

Yes. The ice cream course covers hygiene and HACCP concepts, production costing and sales calculations. The soft serve course also includes costing for your business. The individual course descriptions list the full contents.

Does the training cover soft serve machines and self-service?

Yes. The soft serve course introduces different machines and the technical fundamentals. It also covers staffed service, self-service and soft serve vending machines. If you have questions about a particular model, let us know in advance.

Can I focus on frozen yogurt, açaí or matcha?

Frozen yogurt is covered in the soft serve concept, with an optional additional module for the ice cream course where available. For açaí, explore our açaí and soft serve course with its own date enquiry. If you would like to focus on matcha, contact us to discuss suitable individual training.

Can you help me open an ice cream shop?

Yes. Our start-up course covers preparing to launch your business, from choosing a location and premises to equipment, investment and opening. You can request an individual proposal for additional planning and support.

Can I arrange individual training for my team?

You can request an individual course for your project. We agree the content, duration, date, venue and price according to your needs. Tell us about your concept and the topics your team would like to cover.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Please contact us with your name, course date and booking reference. We will review your request against the terms agreed for your booking and the dates available. Any rescheduling or refund will be confirmed individually.

Can I attend a course in English?

On 16 August 2017, Eisfachschule Berlin appeared on AstroTV's “Leichter Leben” programme.
In conversation with presenter Andrea Plewig, school director Wilhelm Breuer discussed ice cream quality, varieties, production and Germans working abroad in the ice cream industry. The bubble artists BubbleBrothers also appeared on the programme.

Supporting a successful ice cream shop opening in Athens

In August 2020, Cats & Monsters opened in Athens, Greece. The opening attracted long queues, and every visitor received a free scoop to celebrate.
The owners learned to make creative vegan ice cream at Eisfachschule Berlin. ABC Handelskontor GmbH supported the shop fitting and machine technology. Michael Gellert, managing director of ABC Handelskontor GmbH and an instructor at the school, joined the founders for their opening.

“The Ice Cream Girl” visits Eisfachschule Berlin

In September 2017, YouTuber “The Ice Cream Girl” attended our ice cream course as a birthday gift to herself. The two-day intensive programme covered ice cream production and starting an ice cream shop.

Hulda — a small ice cream workshop gets started

Our customer launched “Die kleine Eiswerkstatt” in Stubben near Bad Oldesloe with the mobile ice cream van Hulda. Having grown up in a family of confectioners and trained in the craft, she rediscovered her passion and chose a VW T2 van to bring her artisan ice cream to customers.
With support from Eisfachschule Berlin and ABC Handelskontor GmbH, she was ready for the 2021 ice cream season. Alongside street sales, she also attends private celebrations and company events with her VW van.

Our customer Eismanufaktur Lipp opened its doors with homemade ice cream and ice cream cakes. ABC Handelskontor GmbH and Eisfachschule Berlin helped train and prepare the team for the opening.
Based in Annaberg-Buchholz, Eismanufaktur Lipp makes homemade ice cream, ice cream cakes and tartufo.

Eisfachschule Berlin trained the team led by Mike Lipp in ice cream production. ABC Handelskontor GmbH supplied equipment including an ice cream machine, blast freezer and display cabinet.
